This is going to be one of those reviews where some people are going to find it helpful but others are going to find it ambiguous, but here goes...I've bought all the Druid series and started the Mer book Ember, however I cannot say I'm a fan, and I'm struggling to get into Ember - a little too much of the same after reading my way through the Druids.
What I didn't like:
I would not have continued reading about one third of the way into the first book if it hadn't been free and a three set primarily because I didn't like the main character - she just irked me from the beginning, can't quite put my finger on why, but the main character being likable either saves or kills a story, and in this one it was close to killing it for me.
I also did not like the way the males were to the women and vice versa. Magic sex does not make abusive relationships love matches and I hate it when the women are so permissive and forgiving of appalling behavior from their men so I hated the tone of the relationships - and as it's the relationships that draw me into the stories, this almost had me hitting the delete button.
I also hate that every female in the story is sluttish. I'm sorry but it just irks me how women seem consistently portrayed as victims or whores in a genre aimed primarily at women. Even the Amazonian females in these books (Lucia and Sania or whatever her name is) are victims and whores which just really annoys me, but any way...
It is a dark series. Nearly every sex scene is violent or rape or dub con and it does warn of this.
What I liked:
The books vastly improved when they switched from first person.
There are moment in the series (not the first book) of sheer brilliant writing which almost redeems the whole for me and kept me reading on. This author is seriously talented, and gets better as the series evolves. There are descriptions and details that are just absolutely captivating. Five stars for the writing in the later books and for the editing which is top notch.
The sex scenes were different than the run of the mill. I can't say they got my engines running, I'm not a fan of the each one just get bigger theme, but they were well done.
In summary: if you're not after romance, just erotic content and want something different and well written, I'd recommend it. If you like romance, these are not for you. I am giving the first three three stars because the first brought the whole box set down, but from 4 onwards, I would rate 4-5 even though they're not to my personal taste, so I recommend reading the whole lot and not let the first turn you off.

Based on the reviews it is apparent that these three books and this Series won't be for everyone but I found them to be a dark, thrilling and provocative reading experience. I plan on purchasing the next set containing books 4-6 as soon as I post this review. I read books 1 and 2 in 2011 but didn't post a review probably because I was reading so many books so quickly that I didn't want to take the time to write a review. Technically, I took off .5 point because of an inconsistent plot thread. In book one it was my understanding that a vampire said that a pure blood druid would birth day walkers but in book two and/or three it became that a vampire could walk in the daylight for a limited time just by drinking some of the blood of a pure blood druid. Moreover, the author switches between the heroine's first person point of view and third person/narrative POV. Third person narrative would have been preferable and more conducive.
WARNING this collection is a very dark and very erotic vampire romance that include such subjects as attempted rape, dream rape, rape thru vampire compulsion, unwanted biological sexual attraction and physical violence against the heroine. There very explicit sex scenes vividly depicting anal, vaginal and oral sex.
The plot may not have been 100% original but the author's interpretation, creativity and imagination made it seem so. The writing style was quite good. It was concise, not verbose or excessively descriptive, yet vivid and captivating. The story moved along at a fast pace. The character development was a mixture of good and could have been better. I liked both Cole and Rachel and sympathized with the unbelievable difficulties their relationship encountered. I was really pulling for them. The secondary characters were very diverse and interesting. I liked Nathan and Zack that is after I was able to accept them in the context of these stories. Granted relating to most, if not all, of these characters required my putting asides my own preconceived views on acceptable behavior and submerge myself in the world of the vampire. The author made transition easy and enjoyable. Vampire aren't human, they are the top of the food chain and they don't think, act or mate like humans and in certain circumstances neither do their human mates. Failing to accept these facts will result in one not enjoying the world Eros so skillfully crafts. Yep, being a biological breeder for vampire may make one seem to behave "slutish" but it's the author's world and as with any book one will either love it or hate it. Each book contains action, suspense, plot twists, dark romance, provocative sex, dark humor, violence, swoon worth hunky vampires and I devoured ever delicious morsel.
I was expecting some light vampiric romantic erotica. What I got was three rape fantasy stories. Romance doesn't even enter the universe. Just biological attraction.
In book one Rachel and her friend go out on the town, the friend is gang raped and Rachel barely misses being raped as she is saved by two Reapers. Through these three books 95% of all of the intimate action is rape, either physically or mentally.
In this universe female vampires have become sterile. The only humans that vampires can now mate with are Druids and their descendants. As the number of female Druids is very limited each female is forced to take on a minimum of two mates. Whether she wants to or not. Fighting this are the Rogues who believe that it should be one on one mating. Of course it is the males prerogative to kidnap and force a type of intimacy. It doesn't help that as part of the Druid biology that full blooded Druid women will want to copulate with any and all until she is mated.
As far as the writing is concerned, the author writes a good story. The dialogues are off, even taking into consideration the stilted manner in which the vampires of this universe speak. However, the action parts are well done.
I wish I had known this was a rape fetish book, I would have avoided it. As it is I was hoping that the rape theme was just for the beginning of the first story. As is I am left with a feeling of ickiness.
